ITINERARY:-
DAY 1 - VICTORIA FALLS
Welcome to Victoria Falls! On arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Nkosi Guest Lodge, situated in the heart of the town’s leafy residential suburbs. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the beautiful lodge surroundings or, time permitting, you may wish to venture into town to start exploring immediately. Later you will be transferred to the Dusty Road Restaurant for a customised and traditional Welcome Dinner and Township Experience where you settle down for a warm and cultural evening while the locals serve you with dishes from their heart. After dinner, transfer back to the lodge for overnight.
DAY 2 - VICTORIA FALLS
After breakfast this morning, we will be met and taken on a guided tour of the Falls, followed by a 2 course lunch at the Lookout Café, an iconic restaurant in Victoria Falls where casual dining is a decadent affair with staggering views. After lunch, you may wish to partake in an optional adrenalin rush activity as this is the spot where it all happens! Check out the activities list for ideas – advance bookings are recommended. You may prefer to explore the town for a bit of shopping before making your way back to the lodge at your leisure.
DAY 3 - VICTORIA FALLS
Marathon Day! This is the reason why we’re all here – to participate in and be a part of the incredible Victoria Falls Marathon where the full and half marathon routes have you running over the iconic Victoria Falls bridge with the magnificent Falls in the background! Where else in the world would you have to look out for big game such as elephant, buffalo and lion while you run, as well as kudu, impala and those gorgeous warthogs and mischievous monkeys and baboons? But don’t worry, there will be National Parks’ rangers along the route to keep you safe! On conclusion of the marathon festivities, the rest of the day will be spent at leisure either soaking up the memories, shopping, visiting the markets or taking part in one of the endless list of activities on offer – if you still have the energy!
DAY 4 - VICTORIA FALLS
Today is a full day at leisure where you will have the opportunity to partake in some of the optional activities on offer. After a full day of excitement, it’s time to say farewell to Victoria Falls on an all-inclusive dinner cruise aboard the luxurious Malachite, where you’ll be welcomed on board with a chilled flute of sparkling wine, enjoy canapés on the top deck as the sun sinks below the surface of the Zambezi followed by a delicious four-course meal on the lower deck. With tummies and hearts full, the cruise promises to be an exceptional farewell to our experience in Victoria Falls.
DAY 5 - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
After breakfast, say goodbye to Victoria Falls as we switch to safari mode and are transferred into Botswana by road where we will meet our Guides and Hosts for the next part of our adventure. Keep your eyes open as wildlife is often spotted on the drive through to Kasane. On arrival and after clearing customs and immigration, we will transfer into open game viewing vehicles for a game drive along the Chobe river front to our camp site. This is only the start of our once in a lifetime overland experience through the Botswana National Parks on our exclusive semi-luxury safari. During our stay, we will enjoy a boat cruise on the river.
DAY 6 & 7 - CHOBE NATIONAL PARK
Two full days of exploring and game viewing in the Chobe National Park. A typical day on safari involves an early wake up call for coffee and a light breakfast before heading off into the bush for a few hours before returning to camp for brunch or even lunch. During the heat of the day, we’ll rest up in the coolness of camp, and will often be able to marvel at the game wondering nearby from the comfort of our camp chairs. After a siesta and afternoon tea, we’ll head out again for an afternoon, sunset drive before returning to camp for dinner.
DAY 8 - SAVUTI
This morning we leave our camp staff friends to take down camp as we set off early to enjoy a full day game viewing drive to our next stop. After travelling with a packed lunch and refreshments, we arrive at our Savuti camp site at sunset. As our new camp is already set up, all we need to do is relax, reflect on our day and plan our movements for tomorrow.
DAY 9 - SAVUTI
Full day exploring and game viewing in the Savuti area enjoying another typical day in the bush. During our stay we’ll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives, explore the surrounding hills and search for the San Paintings, not to forget the well-earned siesta in the midday heat – life is tough under the African sun!
DAY 10 - KHWAI RIVER
Today, we stock up with another packed lunch and refreshments and head off for another full day’s adventure to our next destination - the Khwai River and its flood plains which dominate the area. This new area offers different activities including drives after dark, an exciting opportunity to seek out some of the more elusive nocturnal animals such as the bushbaby, a feeding hippo or maybe even a predator on the hunt.
DAY 11 & 12 - KHWAI RIVER
Two full days of exploring and game viewing in the Khwai River area and a chance to ride in a traditional mokoro, a canoe dug out from the stumps of large dead trees and used as a mode of transport to navigate the waters of the Okavango. Modern day mokoros are more likely to be made from fiberglass and are used to move silently around the shallow waters, allowing you to get up closer to animals. It’s a thrilling experience that has become an iconic symbol of the Delta.
DAY 13 - FAREWELL FROM MAUN
After breakfast today we say goodbye to Botswana with our final activity being a 25 minute scenic transfer by light aircraft from Khwai back to Maun, giving us a final, breathtaking opportunity to view the Okavango Delta by air. Our tour ends in Maun, where you’ll say goodbye to your tour leaders and new friends as you check in for your flight for the next part of your travels, whether it be on to Cape Town for the optional extension or back to Australia. Bon Voyage and Safe Travels!!
OPTIONAL EXTENSION - CAPE TOWN
Why not add an extension to Cape Town, South Africa before heading home? The 5 day itinerary includes return airport transfers, 4 nights in a four star guest lodge with breakfast daily, a city tour including Table Mountain and the stunning Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a Peninsula Tour including the Boulders Beach African Penguins, English speaking guides, all entrance fees and plenty of time for leisure time or other optional touring.
